Q&A: What kind of laundry soap do you use? Is there really a difference between the cheap and expensive brands?

I use wisk. The cheap brands don’t get the clothes as clean in my opinion.

I use the Tropical scented Gain. I like it much better than Tide or any other laundry soap. It costs around for a 300 fl oz container. I also use the Tropical scented Gain liquid softner and dryer sheets!!! Smells so good!

I use whatever is on sale. I don’t see any difference between the soaps.

It really depends on your water condition. Some detergents work better on different kinds of water. Find out what kind of water you have then read the labels on the boxes of detergent to see what would work best. It really does make a difference.

i use all liquid and i have used this for years .because for my money its the best and it saves me money as i don’t have to rewash any items that have not come clean the first time .
oh i have tried a lot of brands including the generic brands . and i always came back to all
#1 in my book and the price is right .

Cheap brands of laundry soap are less effective in cleaning your laundry and removing stains and you may have to use twice as much. Either use Era(more so on tough stains such as grease, blood,and grass,also food like spaghetti.) I also use ERA w/bleach. I also use Tide w/ Fabreeze to get bad stinkey smell out of perspiration clothes from sweat, and my husbands an Auto Tech and some times his clothes smell of certain oils from cars and I add Lestoil to the wash for that. There isn’t a lot of a difference in the types of soap. Sometimes you will have to buy extra things as an additive. for smells, stains, etc. I use Laundry soap for the smells. Right now I am using Gain in the Red bottle. I love it and they have a matching fabric softener too. Now as a cheep laundry soap that works well is in a green bottle its called Dynamo it cost about 2.50-3.00 for 100oz the gain is about 5.00 for a 100oz. a little difference. With dynamo use a good fabric softer NOT fabric sheets.

I usually use Tide original scent. I do think it cleans better, but it may just be that I’m used to the smell, so if I use something else it doesn’t “smell clean” to me!!! When money gets tight, I do use others, but I’m never satisfied.
One thing I do know for sure – you don’t need as much as the manufacturer says. Usually half as much works just fine and for tough spots I just shout it out! You know, “Out, d—ned spot!!” This is best done with another person for really tough stains…
