Q&A: Really! What is the difference between Craftsman Hand Tools and very expensive Brands?
If I were to purchase a new 3/8 inch socket set what would I get for the extra cost if I purchased Mac or Snap-on over Craftsman. I know some friends who think Craftsman hand tools are crap…but they don’t say why.

Craftsman have a lifetime warranty. So really all it is is more money, and the same testosterone. The ‘friends’ that want you to go big on cost are probably just jealous you are shopping smarter than they did and know you will save enough to have a bad-@ss TV after you buy your tool set.

snap-on and mac tools are great, but for people like me, craftman tools are good enough, and when they break you just take them back and get a new one free

when you use tool every day you buy the best and snap-on will last longer in the long run

For the average shade tree, Craftsman tools are just fine. They have the same warranty as Mac or Snap-on. The professional mechanics usually use the more expensive tools, because the tool man comes to you every week. If you brake a tool or want a new one you don’t have to stop and go to Sears to get you replacement. There is also some quality differences for the Mac and Snap-on tools, but they are not important for the average DIYers.
